BJP Leader Brijbhushan Sharan Singh Criticizes Congress Over Purification Controversy

Gonda, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, a prominent BJP leader, has responded to the recent FIR filed against BJP workers in Bengaluru, linking it to what he describes as Congress’s vote-seeking tactics. Speaking from Gonda, Singh pointed out that a similar FIR had previously been filed against Congress workers in Uttarakhand.

He stated, “This is purely political maneuvering. As elections approach, Rahul Gandhi will also claim to be a Hindu, despite currently portraying an anti-Hindu stance.” Singh noted that the controversy erupted after a Congress event was held in Bengaluru, followed by a BJP program.

Singh emphasized that all BJP events are conducted with proper rituals, not just in Uttarakhand but at any significant rally or meeting across the country. He remarked, “Even if nothing else, we light an incense stick. Just as schools conduct programs with prayers to Goddess Saraswati, this has been misrepresented by Congress as ‘purification.’ This misdirection has led to the FIR being registered in Bengaluru.”

He further criticized Congress for engaging in what he termed “appeasement politics,” asserting that such tactics would not benefit them. Singh claimed that while all parties attempt to attract Dalit voters, the BJP currently holds a significant advantage in this demographic.

The controversy intensified following a rally led by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, after which the zero FIR against BJP workers was filed. The complaint highlighted that Kharge had addressed a gathering at Ramleela Maidan in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, on August 8, with the alleged ‘purification’ occurring shortly after on August 10.
