Suspicious Death Sparks Protests in Hazaribagh

Hazaribagh, June 4: A young man‘s body was discovered under suspicious circumstances in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, prompting family members and locals to stage a protest, fearing foul play. They placed the body on the road, causing significant traffic disruption on the Hazaribagh-Bagodar route for several hours.

According to police, the incident occurred in the Hootpa village area of the Muffassil police station, where the body was found. The deceased has been identified as Chiku Verma, a resident of Amrit Nagar. Upon receiving the report, Muffassil police arrived at the scene and sent the body for post-mortem at Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital (SBMCH).

Family members at the hospital claimed that Chiku Verma had been murdered in a planned manner. They demanded a fair and high-level investigation to ensure the swift arrest of those responsible.

The relatives alleged that the young man’s death was not an ordinary accident but rather a result of criminal activity. However, Muffassil police station chief Mukesh Kumar Singh stated that, at first glance, the case appears to be related to a road accident. He assured that the police are investigating all possible angles.

According to the station chief, if a written complaint is received from the family, a formal case will be registered for a thorough investigation. Meanwhile, after the post-mortem, family members and locals began their protest at Nutan Nagar Chowk, placing the body on the road. The demonstrators chanted slogans against the administration and blocked the road.

The blockade resulted in long queues of vehicles on both sides, causing significant inconvenience to commuters. The protesters demanded adequate compensation for the deceased’s family, a fair investigation, and strict action against the culprits.

After several hours of protest, police and administrative officials engaged with the crowd and assured them of appropriate action. Following this, the demonstrators lifted the roadblock. Police stated that further action will be taken based on the post-mortem report and other evidence.
