Mumbai, September 23 (Daily Kiran) : The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has announced an expansion of the T20 Mumbai League with the addition of a ninth franchise. This new team will represent the Navi Mumbai region. The franchise rights have been awarded to Aspect Sports for a six-year period, valued at ₹106.88 crore, which includes ₹12.21 crore for the first season.
The inclusion of the Navi Mumbai franchise is expected to broaden the league’s reach, allowing more players from the area to participate in a competitive environment. This move will also provide emerging talents with greater visibility and a platform to showcase their skills at a higher level.
Rohit Sharma, who led India to a T20 World Cup victory, continues to be the face of the league. The successful 2026 edition of the T20 Mumbai League saw participation from global stars like Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane, Shivam Dube, Shardul Thakur, Sarfaraz Khan, and Tushar Deshpande, enhancing the tournament’s prestige and appeal.
Ajinkya Naik, president of the Mumbai Cricket Association, remarked, “The expansion of the T20 Mumbai League to Navi Mumbai marks a significant milestone in our vision to bring cricket to every corner of Mumbai’s cricket ecosystem. The addition of the ninth franchise will not only increase the league’s reach but also provide emerging cricketers with more opportunities to display their talent on a competitive stage.
