Sunny Deol Reflects on the Enduring Legacy of Gadar on Its 25th Anniversary

Mumbai, June 13: Bollywood actor Sunny Deol celebrated the 25th anniversary of his blockbuster film ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’ by expressing how his character, Tara Singh, forged an unbreakable bond with audiences that has only grown stronger over time.

This iconic film, produced under the banner of Zee Studios, will have a special broadcast on Zee Cinema and Zee Bollywood on June 15. Despite facing competition from Aamir Khan’s ‘Lagaan’ at the box office, ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’ remains one of the biggest blockbusters in Hindi cinema and continues to hold a special place in the hearts of viewers.

In an interview, Sunny Deol stated, “Tara Singh has given me a relationship with the audience that has strengthened over time. Even after 25 years, the love for ‘Gadar’ feels just as powerful. There can be no greater honor for any actor. I thank all of India for this love. Hindustan Zindabad was, is, and will always be.”

Ameesha Patel, who played the role of Sakina, shared that this role is one of her most cherished achievements. She remarked, “Seeing the audience celebrate Sakina and this story even after 25 years is an incredibly emotional experience. ‘Gadar’ will always be very close to my heart.”

Director Anil Sharma noted that “‘Gadar’ was made with complete faith, emotion, and storytelling conviction. The audience has turned it into something much larger than just a film. Even after 25 years, this love humbles us all.”

Set against the backdrop of India’s partition, the film beautifully intertwines themes of love, sacrifice, family values, and patriotism, deeply resonating with audiences across generations. The characters, dialogues, and many memorable scenes from the film remain vivid in people’s memories today.
