Sunil Anand, Son of Bollywood Legend Dev Anand, Passes Away at 70 in London

Mumbai, July 29: The Bollywood community is mourning the loss of Sunil Anand, son of the evergreen star Dev Anand. The news of his passing on Tuesday has left his family and fans in deep sorrow.

Reports indicate that Sunil Anand took his last breath in London at the age of 70 due to a heart attack. Following the announcement, social media was flooded with tributes from fans and users expressing their condolences and wishing peace for his soul.

Sunil Anand ventured into the film industry, following in his father’s footsteps. Dev Anand himself provided Sunil with his debut in the industry. In 1984, Sunil made his Bollywood debut with the film “Anand Aur Anand,” which unfortunately did not achieve commercial success, being labeled a box office flop.

After “Anand Aur Anand,” Sunil appeared in two more films, neither of which garnered acclaim. While Dev Anand was celebrated as one of the most successful actors of his time, Sunil struggled to carve out a similar legacy. He was unable to uphold his father’s illustrious reputation and later managed the operations of their home production, Navketan Films.

In 2001, Sunil attempted to direct with the film “Master,” which focused on martial arts. However, he did not find success as a director either. He co-starred with actress Meenakshi Seshadri, who later became a prominent name in Bollywood.

Born in Zurich, Switzerland, to actor Dev Anand and actress Kalpana Kartik, Sunil pursued his education in the United States. He remained unmarried throughout his life.
