Mumbai, July 29: Actor Rakesh Bedi attended an event for the ‘Babla Foundation’s TB Bookmark Campaign’ held in Mumbai on Wednesday. He expressed his support for this public health initiative and marked his presence at the gathering.
The actor stated, “It feels great to be part of the Babla Foundation’s TB Bookmark Campaign. I believe they are doing excellent work. They are not just talking; they are also treating people.”
He noted that today’s younger generation, particularly Gen Z, is quite aware of tuberculosis (TB). He described them as a vigilant and informed generation. Significant steps are being taken in India to raise awareness about TB, including the Prime Minister‘s TB-Free India campaign and the Nikshay scheme. These initiatives provide community screening, free testing, and nutritional support for patients.
Rakesh Bedi has entertained audiences with his remarkable comedic and character roles. He has worked in Hindi films, television series, and theater.
After graduating in acting from the Film and Television Institute of Pune, he began his theatrical journey in Delhi with various groups. His film career started in 1979 with the movie ‘Ahsaas’ or ‘Humare Tumhare.’ He gained immense recognition from films like ‘Chashme Buddoor’ (1981) and ‘Ek Dujhe Ke Liye’ (1981). He has also been part of several popular television shows.
Bedi has entertained audiences through long-running series such as ‘Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain’ (2015) and ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah‘ (2020).
In 2025, he received widespread acclaim for his role as Jameel Jamali Khan in the spy action-thriller films ‘Dhurandhar’ and ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ (2026). This role garnered him recognition both nationally and internationally, earning him fantastic responses from audiences.
