Nagpur, May 31: Actor Suniel Shetty attended the inauguration of the ‘Khasdar Kriya Mahotsav’ in Nagpur, Maharashtra, on Sunday. He emphasized the importance of sports among youth, stating that they not only enhance fitness and health but also play a crucial role in keeping young people away from drugs and other harmful habits.
The grand event will take place from May 31 to June 7. Alongside Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Shetty highlighted the need to promote sports among children and youth. He mentioned that if children are focused on sports, they will naturally steer clear of negative influences.
Shetty expressed concern over the rising drug problem among youth, stating, “Sports, health, wellness, and education are the best solutions.” He cited Nagpur as an example, noting that millions of children actively participate in sports. When children are engaged in sports, there is little room for negative distractions. Reflecting on his own life, he remarked, “Everything good that has happened to me is due to my passion for sports. Even today, people commend me for my fitness and health, which is a result of my love for sports.”
He urged parents to encourage their children to take part in sports. Shetty believes that such large-scale events are essential to convey the right message to the public. “In my opinion, nothing is better for health than sports,” he added.
Praising Nagpur, he noted that over 50 sports are actively participated in by children, which is commendable. He stressed the need for similar events across the country to ensure that the younger generation remains healthy and positive. Thousands of athletes are showcasing their talents in more than 18 sports at this festival.
