
Mumbai, July 2: The timeless songs of legendary Indian singer Kishore Kumar continue to resonate with today’s generation. Recently, his son, Sumit Kumar, shared cherished memories of his father during a special guest appearance on the TV show ‘Indian Idol.’ He became emotional while watching a contestant’s performance.
Sumit Kumar reflected, “My childhood was spent amidst music and stage shows. I often watched my father perform live. Songs like ‘Eena Meena Deeka’ and ‘Ek Chatur Naar’ were not just melodies to me; they were integral parts of my childhood. Whenever these songs played on stage, the atmosphere was filled with joy and laughter.”
He recounted a moment when contestant Manraj performed, saying, “It instantly transported me back to my childhood. The performance reminded me of the days when I would watch my father and family on stage. The unique blend of music and humor created an unforgettable ambiance that the audience adored.”
Sumit also mentioned the song ‘Ek Chatur Naar,’ explaining, “During its performances, the stage often transformed into a comedic scene, filling the venue with laughter. As a child, I was both amazed and delighted by it all. I loved it so much that I would sometimes join in on stage to be part of that joyful atmosphere.”
He further discussed ‘Eena Meena Deeka,’ stating, “This song was a staple in all my father’s live shows. Regardless of the event, it was always performed, and the audience loved it.”
Kishore Kumar is celebrated as one of the greatest singers in Indian cinema. Throughout his illustrious career, he lent his voice to thousands of songs in various Indian languages.
