New Delhi, 08 December (Daily Kiran) – Union Minister of State for Education, Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, said on Monday that it is crucial to reshape the country’s technical education to match the new era. With rapid advancements in artificial intelligence, robotics, and gene editing, the goal is to empower the youth to lead in these technologies.
Responding to a question raised by a Lok Sabha MP, Majumdar stated, “Under the National Education Policy 2020, we have started quickly integrating these new technologies into the curricula of our colleges and engineering institutions. Additionally, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is providing students with improved training opportunities, enabling them to gain practical work experience alongside their studies.”
He added that over the next five years, an investment of ₹4,200 crore will be made to upgrade engineering and polytechnic institutes nationwide, benefiting more than five lakh students. “This is not just an investment but a commitment to strengthening the future of our youth,” he said.
The Minister of State also highlighted that ensuring equal educational opportunities in both urban and rural areas remains a priority. He described these measures as a path to advance the country in the technological world and equip young people with diverse skills.
