Guwahati, September 7 (Daily Kiran) : Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed the youth of the state on September 7, urging them to play a crucial role in shaping Assam’s future. Speaking at an event at Guwahati University, he emphasized that transforming the state cannot rely solely on its natural resources. A robust human resource base, along with a conducive ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship, is essential.
Sarma highlighted the need for an ecosystem that fosters creativity, enabling young people to innovate and lead future industries. While natural resources can provide advantages, he stressed that human resources and the right environment can significantly change the game.
He called for empowering the youth by providing opportunities in education, innovation, entrepreneurship, and emerging industries. The future of Assam, according to Sarma, largely hinges on how well the youth seize these opportunities.
The Chief Minister appealed to the people of Assam, particularly the younger generation, to work towards creating a new future for the state and to safeguard the developmental achievements made in recent years. He also urged them to resist forces that aim to undermine the progress and development painstakingly achieved by the state.
Sarma noted that Assam is making strides in various sectors, and creating opportunities for the youth is vital to maintaining the momentum of development. His remarks came during a ceremony attended by Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan, who laid the foundation for infrastructure projects worth ₹110 crore at the university. These projects include a new multidisciplinary academic building, a boys’ hostel, an international students’ hostel, and improvements to the auditorium and library.
Additionally, the event saw the release of books focused on the creation of an Assamese dictionary, along with tributes to renowned Assamese singer and cultural icon Bhupen Hazarika.
The Chief Minister reiterated the importance of education, employment, and skill development in transforming Assam’s economy and providing better opportunities for its youth. He encouraged young people to embrace innovation and take advantage of new opportunities, contributing to the overarching goal of building a stronger and more prosperous Assam.
