Sudden Weather Shift in Madhya Pradesh Causes Damage to Crops

Bhopal, March 20: A sudden change in weather has hit Madhya Pradesh, bringing rain and hail to several areas. This shift has resulted in a drop in temperature and significant damage to crops. The meteorological department predicts strong winds and continued rain in the coming days.

Since Thursday night, a dramatic change in weather has been observed across much of the state. Strong winds preceded the rainfall, with hail reported in numerous locations. The alteration in weather is attributed to the activation of cyclonic circulation and a trough line, affecting more than half of the state. Areas including Bhopal, Indore, and Jabalpur have recorded rainfall, while reports indicate hail accompanied by storms in ten different locations.

The rain and hail have adversely affected wheat and chickpea crops, coinciding with a noticeable drop in temperature. On Friday, over a large part of the state, clouds lingered, and winds continued, with rainfall recorded in several areas. The meteorological department forecasts that similar weather conditions are likely to persist for the next three to four days. Additionally, there is a possibility of rain and hail in over 30 districts.

Agricultural experts warn that this weather change poses a serious threat to the rabi crops, particularly wheat and chickpeas. The hail and storms have caused extensive crop damage, with many plants flattened in the fields, increasing the risk of spoilage. The situation worsened as harvested crops were left exposed to the rain in open fields, raising concerns among farmers.
