
Bhopal, April 7: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for several districts in Madhya Pradesh for thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds on Wednesday.
According to the IMD’s daily bulletin, light rain was recorded in some areas of Gwalior and Jabalpur divisions over the past 24 hours, while the rest of the state remained mostly dry.
Maximum temperatures in most divisions were 3.2 to 3.6 degrees Celsius below normal. The highest temperature was recorded at 37.8 degrees Celsius in Narmadapuram, while the lowest was 14.2 degrees Celsius in Pachmarhi (Narmadapuram).
The weather department predicts the possibility of rain or thunderstorms in districts including Vidisha, Rajgarh, Ratlam, Agar, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Guna, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Gwalior, Datia, Bhind, Morena, Shivpuri, Singrauli, Sidhi, Rewa, Mauganj, Satna, Panna, Damoh, Sagar, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, and Niwari.
Additionally, Gwalior, Datia, Bhind, and Morena districts may experience thunderstorms accompanied by hail and strong winds.
A senior IMD official stated that some areas could see strong winds with thunderstorms, and there is a likelihood of hail in northern and western districts. Residents are advised to stay indoors during adverse weather and take necessary precautions.
The weather department has urged people to remain indoors during the storm, keep windows and doors closed, and avoid unnecessary travel. They should not seek shelter under trees or power poles, unplug electrical devices, and stay away from metal objects.
Farmers are advised to avoid irrigation, fertilizer, or pesticide spraying. They should also ensure support for crops, keep livestock in safe locations, manage drainage in fields, and cover harvested produce.
Weather experts anticipate a new western disturbance to become active in the western Himalayan region from April 11, which may lead to further changes in weather conditions.
