Jaipur, April 8: The Jaipur Meteorological Department has reported that the influence of the western disturbance will continue on Wednesday, bringing light rain to some areas of the state. However, an improvement in weather conditions is expected from Thursday, with predominantly dry weather across Rajasthan.
Director of the Jaipur Meteorological Center, Radheshyam Sharma, stated, “On April 8, light rain is likely in the northern parts of the Bharatpur and Jaipur divisions, while most other regions will remain dry. From April 9, we expect dry weather for the next four to five days, with temperatures likely to rise by 3-4 degrees Celsius starting April 10.”
Meanwhile, heavy rainfall and hail continued in Rajasthan on Tuesday due to the western disturbance, with several districts recording over an inch of rain. Areas such as Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, and Nagaur experienced intense rainfall along with hail. In the state capital, Jaipur, heavy rain lasted for about an hour and a half on Tuesday night, causing a temperature drop of up to 7 degrees Celsius.
The recent weather changes have led to a drop in temperatures across the state, with more than ten cities recording maximum temperatures below 30 degrees Celsius. Chittorgarh recorded the highest maximum temperature at 36.6 degrees Celsius, while Fatehpur (Sikar) was the coldest, with a maximum of 25 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours.
In the past 24 hours, several districts, including Jodhpur, Bikaner, Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Churu, Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Jaipur, Dausa, Alwar, Nagaur, Tonk, Bharatpur, and Dholpur, experienced rain amid dense clouds. Rain and hail were reported in parts of Nagaur, Churu, and Hanumangarh, accompanied by winds exceeding 40 km/h.
The weather system, active since the night of April 6, had its most significant impact on Tuesday in regions such as Jodhpur, Bikaner, Ajmer, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Udaipur, and Kota. Continuous rainfall has caused significant damage to crops like wheat and isabgol. Waterlogging in fields has affected crops ready for harvest, while stored crops in local markets across several districts have also been damaged.
A warning for light rain has been issued for some areas in the Bharatpur and Jaipur divisions over the next 24 hours. Following this, clear weather is expected for the next four to five days, with daytime temperatures rising due to increased sunshine. Sharma indicated that temperatures are likely to rise in the latter half of April and warned of extreme heat in May and June this year.
