
Mumbai, June 20: The 10-day national summer internship program titled “Soil Detective: Practical Laboratory Skills and Soil Analysis Training” at Bihar Agricultural University (BAU), Sabour, has successfully concluded. The program aimed to provide undergraduate students in agriculture and soil science with modern soil analysis techniques and laboratory-based practical training.
This internship was organized from June 10 to June 19 under the auspices of Sabour Consultancy Services (Subcons) in collaboration with the university’s Department of Soil Science. A total of 22 students from various educational institutions across the country participated, including students from Sandeep University, Madhubani; Sri Sri University, Cuttack; Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay University, Gorakhpur; and Usha Martin University, Ranchi.
During the program, participants received in-depth training on soil sample collection, soil fertility assessment, interpretation of soil test reports, identification of nutrients, laboratory safety standards, and operation of advanced analytical instruments.
The training included theoretical knowledge, practical sessions, expert lectures, and field demonstrations, allowing students to gain experience working in real-world conditions.
Through this internship, students developed essential skills related to agricultural research, extension services, and sustainable land management. Participants found the opportunity to work with modern laboratory equipment and the latest soil testing techniques extremely beneficial. They noted that this training provided a rich and practical experience, distinct from traditional classroom learning.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Dr. D.R. Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Bihar Agricultural University, emphasized that solutions to the current challenges in the agricultural sector can only be achieved through scientific thinking and technical proficiency.
He encouraged students to understand the importance of experiential learning and to embrace agricultural innovations. Certificates were awarded to all participants during the concluding session.
The program was coordinated by Dr. Anshuman Kohli, CEO of Subcons, while Dr. Sonal Kumari played a significant role as the organizing secretary.
