Gandhinagar, June 23: The Gujarat government, under Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel’s guidance, is hosting a statewide school admission festival from June 23 to June 25. This initiative aims to ensure that no child eligible for primary school education is deprived of their right to education. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched this festival and the Kanya Kelvani (Education) Rath Yatra program in 2003 when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat.
As the festival kicks off, all available seats at Vadodara’s Dula Kag Government Primary School have already been filled, leading to a ‘No Admission’ sign being posted at the school’s entrance.
While private schools are often highlighted for quality education, Dula Kag Primary School stands out as a beacon of excellence in the government education sector. Established in 2010 and managed by the Municipal Primary Education Committee, this school has gained a reputation for its consistent academic performance, modern infrastructure, and holistic approach to student development. Its achievements have earned it a place in the PM Shri (Prime Minister’s School for Rising India) initiative launched by the Gujarat government.
Dula Kag Primary School boasts modern facilities comparable to leading private institutions. With three buildings, 24 classrooms, and over 1,700 students, it features air-conditioned computer and science labs, a modern library, smart classrooms equipped with interactive panels, a playground, a medicinal plant garden, and a green, well-maintained campus. Following its designation as a PM Shri school, the institution is set to enhance its facilities further, with nine additional classrooms allocated, increasing its capacity to over 2,000 students.
Academically, this primary school consistently achieves high grades in government evaluations. Its students have excelled in competitive exams such as the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMSS), PSE, CET, and Gyan Sadhana. Each year, there is significant demand for admissions, resulting in a long waiting list, reflecting the trust parents place in this institution. The school also emphasizes developing soft skills and leadership qualities among its students. With its inclusion in the PM Shri scheme, Dula Kag Primary School will further enhance its capabilities for comprehensive student development.
The school ensures the holistic development of children by promoting sports and arts alongside education. Students have excelled in various competitions at district, state, and national levels, earning numerous medals and accolades in sports like Kho-Kho, Langdi, and Rope Mallakhamb. With the inclusion in the PM Shri scheme, the school will have a dedicated sports teacher to provide better training. Additionally, it is preparing students for excellence in archery, athletics, and other sports at state and national levels.
Dula Kag Primary School has initiated a unique ‘Child Parliament’ initiative, which plays a crucial role in instilling democratic values, leadership skills, and a sense of responsibility among students. Participants contribute to various committees focused on midday meals, prayer, cleanliness, gardening, health, water management, and bulletin boards. This system encourages students to actively participate in school management by fulfilling their responsibilities. Competitions are held among committees throughout the week, with the best-performing committee receiving the most stars, fostering healthy competition and encouraging creativity for the school’s development.
From 2018 to 2025, the school’s girls have secured top positions in the Raas-Garba competition at the tehsil, district, and state levels during the Art Mahakumbh. The students have also excelled in other competitions, such as wedding songs. As a PM Shri school, it will now also receive a music teacher, preparing students for music competitions.
Gujarat’s Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Education Minister Riva Baa Jadeja, former Education Minister Prafulbhai Panseriya, and Kuber Dindor have acknowledged the school’s exemplary efforts. Senior leaders and dignitaries frequently visit the school to encourage teachers and students. Recently, a representative from BRICS also visited the school. Under the PM Shri scheme, the school is expected to gain further strength and will significantly contribute to preparing builders of a developed India with new resources and opportunities.
