Ramgarh, August 24: Prominent student leader and JLKRM (Jharkhand Democratic Revolutionary Front) member Devendra Nath Mahato commenced a campaign for recruitment reform on Monday. The journey began from the ancestral village of former Chief Minister Shibu Soren, located in Ramgarh district, with the aim of improving the recruitment processes of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC).
Devendra and his team embarked on this initiative aboard a bus, planning to hold meetings and rallies with youth across all districts. The campaign will cover all 24 districts of the state.
Before launching the journey, Mahato and his supporters performed traditional rituals at the statue of Shibu Soren in Lukaiya Tand, Neemra. They sang the national anthem amidst the beats of the mandhar and planted a sakhuwa sapling.
Speaking to the media, Devendra Mahato expressed his respect for Jharkhand’s pioneers, including the late Shibu Soren and other martyrs. He emphasized the need for transparency and fairness in recruitment examinations. The campaign aims to address issues such as paper leaks, fraud, and favoritism in the recruitment processes of JPSC and JSSC. It seeks to unite youth and students across all 24 districts in demanding these reforms.
However, prior to the journey’s commencement, local villagers in Neemra protested against Devendra Mahato. They took to the streets armed with traditional weapons like bows and arrows, axes, and sticks, accusing him of attempting to disrupt the village atmosphere for political gain.
The journey, which started in Neemra, proceeded through Ramgarh towards Hazaribagh. Devendra Mahato stated that this campaign aims to connect villages and cities. He asserted that the fight will continue until the government provides a written guarantee regarding the integrity of competitive examinations.
