Amaravati, June 29: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu met with Sunil Bharti Mittal, founder and chairman of Bharti Enterprises, to discuss enhancing the state’s digital infrastructure and connectivity. The meeting took place at the Chief Minister’s residence in Amaravati.
Naidu shared on the social media platform ‘X’ that their discussion was meaningful and positive. He stated, “We talked about strengthening Andhra Pradesh’s digital infrastructure and improving connectivity for the people. The conversation included topics such as increasing internet and mobile tower connectivity to the last mile, promoting investments in data centers and undersea internet cable landing stations, and enhancing ease of doing business for mobile service providers.”
However, detailed information about their discussions has not yet been released. An official statement from the state government is expected to follow.
Bharti Airtel’s data center unit, Airtel Xtra, is among the partner companies for the Google AI data center being developed in Visakhapatnam.
This project, with an investment of approximately $15 billion, will develop gigawatt-capacity data centers powered by clean energy. It will also be supported by a robust submarine cable network.
The foundation stone for this data center project was laid in April and will be developed on around 600 acres of land, with a total capacity of 1 gigawatt.
On April 28, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, along with Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw, laid the foundation for the Google Cloud India AI Hub.
Naidu urged Google and its partner companies to complete this project by September 2028 for its inauguration. He emphasized that his government aims to utilize the Google AI data center to enhance governance efficiency and speed, ensuring better and faster services for the public.
