New Delhi, August 27: Indian spiritual leader and founder of the Art of Living, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, has expressed profound sorrow over the severe natural disaster in Nepal. In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, he stated that Nepal is currently facing a significant crisis. Amid the loss of missing travelers and extensive damage, he urged everyone to stand in solidarity with the affected families and to pray for their strength.
In a video message, Gurudev remarked, “Nepal is grappling with the wrath of nature and such a massive disaster. Many travelers who had gone to Mansarovar are missing, and substantial loss of life and property has occurred. In this challenging situation, we stand with the people of Nepal and the government.”
He further emphasized, “We must provide courage to the affected families and pray that they find the inner strength and resilience to endure this hardship. Let us all come together and pray for their ability to withstand this difficult time.”
It is reported that a sudden flood in the Bhote Koshi River on Wednesday wreaked havoc in Nepal. So far, approximately 162 fatalities have been confirmed, with over 81 individuals receiving treatment in various hospitals. Hundreds remain missing, including a significant number of Indian pilgrims.
Many Indian travelers on the Mansarovar pilgrimage have also been caught in this flood. The sudden rise in water levels has swept away numerous villages, hotels, and roads along the riverbanks. Nepal’s administration and military teams are actively engaged in relief and rescue operations, but challenging terrain and adverse weather conditions are complicating these efforts.
The Nepalese government has declared this disaster a national crisis and has put all agencies on high alert. Helicopters and drones are being utilized to search for the missing individuals. The Indian government is in continuous contact with the Nepalese authorities, and the Indian embassy has issued helpline numbers for assistance.
