New Delhi, August 27: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and significant damage caused by the devastating floods in Nepal. The organization stated that it is ready to provide every possible assistance to those affected by this disaster.
According to local media reports, at least 162 people have died due to sudden flooding in the Bhotekoshi River across three districts in Nepal. Additionally, hundreds, including security personnel and tourists, are still reported missing.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, the RSS expressed its heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, as well as to the affected individuals and the injured.
The organization noted, “The severe flooding that struck Nepal on Wednesday morning has impacted the districts of Rasuwa, Dhading, Nuwakot, Chitwan, and Eastern Nawalparasi. Thousands of people have been affected by this catastrophic disaster.”
The RSS further stated, “We are fully prepared to assist the victims of this calamity and will strive to provide all possible help. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh appeals to everyone to step forward and offer assistance during this unprecedented crisis.”
As reported by the Kathmandu Post, the floods occurred when the flow of the Lhende, a tributary of the Bhotekoshi River, was blocked due to a landslide. The first area affected was Timure, located near the Nepal-China border in Rasuwa. Hundreds of tourists and security personnel are also reported missing due to this disaster.
Meanwhile, India has sent 10 tons of humanitarian aid to assist in relief and rescue operations in Nepal. India’s Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, formally handed over the relief materials to Khadka Raj Paudel, Nepal’s Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation. This aid includes essential supplies for those affected by the floods and landslides.
Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that India stands firmly with Nepal during this challenging time and is committed to providing all possible assistance.
