Snuggerud’s Late Power-Play Goal Ends Blues’ Losing Streak

ST. LOUIS — Jimmy Snuggerud scored a power-play goal with just 7.6 seconds remaining to help the St. Louis Blues secure a 5-4 win over the Florida Panthers on Thursday night. The victory ended the Blues’ five-game losing streak.

Matthew Tkachuk, returning from adductor muscle surgery, delivered an impressive performance for Florida. The St. Louis native scored two goals, his first of the season, and recorded his 400th career assist.

Jordan Kyrou contributed a goal and two assists for the Blues. Additional goals came from Jake Neighbours, Jonatan Berggren, and Oskar Sundqvist. Goaltender Joel Hofer made 17 saves to help St. Louis claim the win.

For the Panthers, Sam Reinhart scored a goal and provided an assist. A.J. Greer also found the net, while Daniil Tarasov made 26 saves. This marked Florida’s second consecutive loss.

Greer opened the scoring for Florida at 3:12 of the first period, but Neighbours equalised 1:34 later. Kyrou then put the Blues ahead 2-1 at 7:51. Both Neighbours and Kyrou were uncertain starters after injuries in the previous game against Dallas.

Reinhart tied the game at 2-2 on a power play at 9:22. Berggren restored the Blues’ lead with an even-strength goal late in the first period. Sundqvist, returning after missing four games with an ankle injury, extended the lead to 4-2 early in the second period.

Tkachuk sparked a Panthers comeback with two quick goals to level the score at 4-4. His first came with 3:08 left in the second period, followed by a power-play goal at 1:21. Panthers forward Evan Rodrigues also reached a milestone, playing in his 600th career game.

Looking ahead, the Panthers will host Winnipeg on Saturday, while the Blues will face Columbus on the same day.
