
New Delhi, April 8: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital on Wednesday. During the meeting, CM Tamang congratulated Prime Minister Modi on his remarkable achievement of being the longest-serving head of government in India.
The Chief Minister shared photos from the meeting on the social media platform X, stating, “I had the privilege of presenting a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and engaged in a cordial and meaningful conversation. Initially, I extended my heartfelt congratulations to the Prime Minister on this notable achievement of being the longest-serving head of state in India.”
CM Tamang informed that during the meeting, he apprised the Prime Minister of Sikkim’s key developmental priorities and emerging needs. They discussed ways to strengthen support in areas such as infrastructure development, sustainable growth, and the overall well-being of the people. He also expressed his sincere appreciation and gratitude for the reopening of the Nathu La trade route (Silk Route), which is set to resume in June 2026, promising significant benefits for local and business communities.
He added that he was honored to convey a message of good wishes to the Prime Minister for the closing ceremony of the division state’s golden jubilee, which the Prime Minister graciously accepted. Similarly, he acknowledged the continuous support, encouragement, and steadfast backing provided by the Government of India for the ongoing progress and prosperity of the state.
