Etawah, August 28: Akhilesh Yadav, the National President of the Samajwadi Party and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, met with party workers and the public in Saifai on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. During his interaction with the media, he launched a sharp attack on the central and state governments led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Akhilesh raised concerns about women’s safety, inflation, farmers’ issues, education, and the government’s policies, placing the BJP in the spotlight. He asserted that if the Samajwadi Party comes to power in the future, women’s protection, safety, dignity, and health will be top priorities, with effective policy decisions made for their upliftment.
He accused the BJP of selling the name and ideals of Jayaprakash Narayan, stating, “Those who can sell JP cannot be expected to bring any goodness.” He pointed out that the BJP, which initially tried to associate itself with socialist ideology by showcasing JP’s image, is now exploiting his name and thoughts.
Akhilesh expressed skepticism about the BJP’s intentions, especially regarding inflation. He highlighted the soaring prices of sugar while ethanol is being mixed with petrol. He alleged that this is part of a calculated strategy to benefit select individuals, who in turn fund the party.
He noted that rising prices of petrol, diesel, and essential goods have diminished the vibrancy of markets, leading to lackluster festivals. Accusing the government of profiteering, Akhilesh claimed that it is focused on generating profits while giving industrialists free rein to share in the gains.
He also questioned the memorandums of understanding being signed with large companies, suggesting that these agreements could deprive farmers of their livelihoods in the future. On the education front, Akhilesh leveled serious accusations against the BJP government.
He stated that the three controversial laws, which the government pretends to repeal, are still being implemented in some form. He criticized the BJP for allegedly undermining the construction of new primary schools approved in Saifai and Lucknow, asserting that the government does not wish to promote education.
