
New Delhi, May 30: The sacred Purushottam month, dedicated to the worship of Lord Vishnu, is currently being observed. On May 31, 2026, which falls on a Sunday, the full moon day of the Shukla Paksha in Jyeshtha month will be celebrated, also known as Adhik Purnima. This day holds special significance for rituals such as chanting, donations, prayers, and bathing. It is believed that performing auspicious deeds on the full moon day of Purushottam month yields immense spiritual merit.
The date of Adhik Purnima begins on May 30 (Saturday) at 11:58 AM and lasts until May 31 (Sunday) at 2:14 PM. Therefore, the rituals of bathing, donating, and worship should be conducted on May 31. Special prayers are offered to Lord Vishnu, Goddess Lakshmi, and Lord Shiva along with Goddess Gauri on this day.
On Sunday, sunrise will occur at 5:24 AM, and sunset will be at 7:14 PM, while the moon will rise at 7:36 PM. The Anuradha Nakshatra will be present until 4:12 PM on the full moon day. The auspicious yoga, Shiv, will last until 5:25 AM, and the Karan, Bava, will be effective until 2:14 PM.
Regarding the auspicious timings on Adhik Purnima, Brahma Muhurat will be from 4:03 AM to 4:43 AM, Abhijit Muhurat from 11:51 AM to 12:47 PM, Vijay Muhurat from 2:37 PM to 3:33 PM, and Godhuli Muhurat from 7:13 PM to 7:33 PM.
On the other hand, inauspicious times include Rahu Kaal from 5:30 PM to 7:14 PM, Yamgand from 12:19 PM to 2:03 PM, and Gulika Kaal from 3:46 PM to 5:30 PM.
According to scriptures, the day of Adhik Purnima in Purushottam month is considered extremely auspicious and special. Engaging in Vishnu Sahasranama recitation, listening to the Harivansh Purana, and performing charitable acts or bathing in the Ganges (or at home) during this time is believed to yield significant benefits. The Purushottam month is regarded as an excellent opportunity for spiritual advancement and accruing merit.
