Mumbai, August 2: Actor Siddharth is in the spotlight as he promotes his upcoming web series “Operation White Sea.” During the promotional events, he shared insights about the rigorous training he underwent for his role as a fighter pilot.
This series is based on the Indian Air Force’s “Operation White Sea,” conducted during the Kargil War in 1999. The operation involved the Indian Air Force collaborating with the Indian Army to drive out regular and irregular Pakistani troops from Indian posts along the Line of Control in the Kargil sector.
Siddharth portrays an Indian Air Force pilot in the series. While promoting the show in Mumbai’s BKC area, he discussed his experiences alongside co-actors Jimmy Shergill, Mihir Ahuja, and Arnav Bhasin.
He remarked, “The MiG cockpit is extremely small. It’s even smaller than this chair. When you lean forward, you can only see a limited angle. So, when you’re in the air, what will your eye line be? You can’t look down like this. How will you see anything? We were taught all these nuances, even the choice of words. In the air, you can’t shout.”
Siddharth continued, “Everything in the air is communicated quickly and clearly, mostly in English. If there’s even a single mistake, we wouldn’t be allowed to proceed. They would come and correct us immediately. Our movements, our attire, everything was controlled.”
He added, “So, that was the training. If you ask me if I felt like I was flying, absolutely not. We don’t have that training. We are not qualified for it. But I can tell you what happens behind the scenes; we understood that. We grasped the theory. That was our training. For me, the real training, and I believe it was the same for Bhaji, was the human aspect.”
“Operation White Sea” will be available for streaming on Netflix starting August 7.
