Surabaya, August 2: This morning, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy’s warships, Qichikuan (Ship Number 83) and Kunlunshan, arrived at the Tanjung Perak Port in Surabaya, Indonesia. The fleet is on a mission for extensive training and a friendly visit in distant maritime regions. It will engage in a four-day goodwill visit in Indonesia.
Upon arrival, officials from the Chinese Consulate in Surabaya, representatives from the Indonesian Navy, the local Chinese community, Chinese enterprises, and students warmly welcomed the fleet. During the visit, naval officers from both countries will tour each other’s ships and participate in various friendly activities, including sports competitions.
Additionally, a special deck reception will be organized by the Chinese naval fleet, providing Indonesian military officials, local citizens, and members of the Chinese community an opportunity to explore the ships.
Fleet officer Kuo Paishiong expressed, “Standing at a foreign port and observing the sights of another country made me realize that our warship is not just a vessel sailing the seas, but a bridge delivering messages of peace and friendship. This long maritime journey has enhanced my professional skills and allowed me to closely understand the open and inclusive global role of the Chinese Navy.”
Chinese student Chen Xingchuo, residing in Indonesia, shared that boarding a warship for the first time was a source of immense pride and excitement for him. He noted that this experience allowed him to feel the strength of his country up close. After the visit concludes, both nations’ navies will also conduct joint maritime exercises.
