New Delhi, August 2: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has asserted that Ukraine is consistently targeting locations in Russia that support its military efforts. He stated that on Saturday night, Ukraine struck a fuel storage facility.
In a post on the social media platform X, Zelensky mentioned, “We are continuing our long-range operations against Russian sites that support the war and fund this invasion. On Saturday night, we targeted two significant locations: an oil refinery and the Engels military air base in Saratov, which is over 600 kilometers from the front lines.”
Zelensky also reported an attack on the fuel storage center at the Lyudinovskaya oil depot in the Kaluga region. Additionally, Ukrainian forces executed a precise strike in the Bryansk region on a site used for storing, preparing, and launching attack drones.
He expressed gratitude to all members of Ukraine’s defense forces for their ongoing efforts to enhance long-range capabilities and achieve accurate results. “We are bringing this war back to where it started,” he stated.
Zelensky highlighted that many companies in Russia still operate without sanctions, aiding in the continuation of these attacks. These firms manufacture essential components for drones, missiles, and guided aerial bombs. This is why the aggressor continues to invest in and attempt to increase its ballistic weapon capabilities.
He emphasized the necessity of applying pressure on every part of Russia’s defense industry. This pressure will ultimately help reduce the number of attacks on our people. The scope of sanctions should be expanded and effectively enforced.
Zelensky reported that on Sunday, Russia launched aerial bombings on Sumy. A drone strike in Brovary resulted in one death and six injuries. “I extend my deepest condolences to their families and loved ones,” he said.
He noted that Kharkiv city and the surrounding region are facing ongoing assaults. On Saturday night, Russia also attacked the Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipro regions. This week, over 1,500 locations have been damaged, including hundreds of residential buildings.
