New Delhi, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : Shiv Sena spokesperson Raju Waghmare recently addressed the ongoing legal dispute concerning the party’s name and election symbol. This comes in the wake of remarks made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the controversy surrounding the death of Disha Salian. Waghmare urged Congress to focus on its own dwindling party support.
Waghmare stated, “The court is currently hearing our case regarding the symbol and name of the party. Today, our lawyers completely refuted the claims made by the opposing party, which were intended to mislead the court. They argued that the Election Commission cannot make a decision while a disqualification case is pending.”
He emphasized that there is no provision in any act or law that prohibits the Election Commission from making decisions during ongoing disqualification proceedings.
In a pointed response to Rahul Gandhi, Waghmare claimed that the Election Commission has legally granted the Shiv Sena its name and symbol, adhering to constitutional guidelines and previous Supreme Court rulings. “We have not stolen anything or committed any wrongdoing,” he asserted.
Waghmare further remarked that the decision was made in accordance with the laws established by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. He questioned Gandhi’s motives for posting comments about the Shiv Sena, suggesting that the Congress leader should pay more attention to his own party, which he described as hollow and losing members.
On the sensitive issue of Disha Salian’s death, Waghmare noted, “Considering the grief of Disha Salian’s elderly father, who has lost his daughter, he has filed an FIR based on the evidence he possesses, naming several individuals. Aditya Thackeray himself claims he has never met Disha Salian or seen her. Clearly, now that names have surfaced in the FIR, people will discuss this matter.”
