Raghav Chadha Flags Off Drug-Free Punjab Campaign in Pathankot

Pathankot, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : The ‘Drug-Free Punjab‘ campaign was officially launched on September 18 in Pathankot, with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Raghav Chadha joining BJP National President Nitin Nabin to flag off the initiative. The campaign aims to highlight the severe drug problem in Punjab and the struggles faced by families affected by addiction.

Chadha took to social media platform X to share insights from the event. He recounted meeting families grappling with the dire consequences of substance abuse. “Addiction not only ruins lives but devastates entire families,” he stated, emphasizing the widespread impact of the crisis.

He criticized the Punjab government, asserting that AAP had promised to eradicate drug issues but has failed to deliver. According to Chadha, the drug problem has escalated significantly over the past four and a half years, particularly with the increased availability of ‘chitta,’ a potent form of narcotic.

Chadha pointed out a troubling rise in overdose cases and noted that drug consumption is on the rise. He claimed that drug delivery services are now operating on a large scale, exacerbating the situation.

The MP lamented that despite promises of jobs and opportunities for Punjab’s youth, families continue to pay a heavy price due to the drug crisis. During the event, Nitin Nabin’s presence underscored the campaign’s goal of raising awareness about the gravity of the drug issue and uniting the community against it.

Chadha’s participation and remarks have reignited political debates regarding the Punjab government’s anti-drug measures. The ‘Drug-Free Punjab’ campaign is set to travel through various regions of the state, with plans to engage with affected families and local residents along the way.
