Indore, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : Congress MP Pawan Khera raised significant concerns on Friday regarding logistical and security challenges ahead of Rahul Gandhi‘s upcoming “Students’ Voice” event in Indore. Speaking at a press conference, Khera highlighted a controversy over a security note issued prior to Gandhi’s visit, alleging that the party has faced numerous obstacles in organizing the event in Madhya Pradesh.
Khera referenced his experience working in Bhopal during former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh’s tenure, noting that Congress had previously accommodated political opponents during events. “I worked in Bhopal from 1995 to 1998 under Digvijay Singh. During his time, the BJP held a national executive meeting there, which Singh personally welcomed and even arranged meals for the attendees. This reflects Congress’s tradition of inclusivity,” he stated.
The party has also expressed dissatisfaction with the management of the event venue. Originally scheduled to take place at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, the event was moved to a field near a regional park due to unavailability. The Indore Development Authority later allocated temporary land for the event, but the situation became contentious when the civic authority requested additional payment from Congress for the field’s use.
Khera emphasized that the student outreach program would focus on issues affecting youth. He posed critical questions, asking whether merely changing names would alter their fortunes or resolve issues like paper leaks and job shortages. “I refuse to be distracted from the fundamental questions at hand,” he concluded.
