Severe Storms and Heavy Rain in Uttar Pradesh Claim 24 Lives, CM Yogi Promises Support

Lucknow, May 1: Over the past two days, severe storms and heavy rainfall across Uttar Pradesh have resulted in significant damage, claiming the lives of at least 24 individuals. According to government reports, 15 people have been injured, and 16 animals have also died due to the adverse weather conditions.

The situation has worsened in several districts, with continuous rainfall, strong winds, and frequent lightning strikes severely impacting daily life. Farmers working in open fields, outdoor workers, and families living in makeshift homes have been the most affected. Incidents of fallen trees, power outages, and flooding have also been reported in various areas.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep condolences to the families of the deceased. He assured that the state government stands firmly with all affected families during this challenging time.

The Chief Minister has directed officials to ensure immediate and proper medical treatment for the injured and to provide all necessary health facilities in hospitals. He also stated that compensation for the deceased, injured, and livestock losses should be disbursed within 24 hours.

District magistrates and other relevant officials have been instructed to expedite relief and rescue operations. The Chief Minister warned that any negligence or delay in providing assistance will not be tolerated.

Administrative teams are actively engaged in relief efforts in the affected districts. They are assessing damage door-to-door and delivering aid to those in need.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning in several parts of the state over the next few days, indicating that the threat has not yet fully subsided.

Weather patterns are also changing in other parts of North India. Rain and hailstorms were reported on Thursday in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), providing relief from the heat. The IMD has also forecast light to moderate rainfall in Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh on Friday.
