
Jammu, April 14: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha of Jammu and Kashmir stated on Tuesday that there is no greater duty than serving those in need.
He participated in the enhancement program of ‘Apna Bhojanalay’, a community kitchen operated by the Seva Bharati organization, with support from Jammu and Kashmir Bank Limited.
In a post on the social media platform X, the LG expressed, “Today, I attended the enhancement ceremony of ‘Apna Bhojanalay’. This community kitchen is run by ‘Seva Bharati’ and is supported by Jammu and Kashmir Bank along with other donors. I am extremely pleased to witness the unwavering spirit of Seva Bharati in giving back to society. This spirit empowers individuals and strengthens communities.”
He further added, “There is no duty greater than serving those in need. Seva Bharati has honored this duty by nourishing the bodies of people, providing strength to their souls, and upholding the dignity of every human life. Strengthening ‘Apna Bhojanalay’ is to fortify the very foundation of our society.”
Seva Bharati is a prominent Indian non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in 1979. It is dedicated to uplifting marginalized communities through volunteer-driven social service, focusing primarily on education, healthcare, and self-reliance.
The organization works mainly in slum areas to promote development and empowerment. Established on October 2, 1979, by Balasaheb Deoras, it aims to serve the poor and neglected, promote self-reliance, and provide social empowerment to vulnerable groups. Its key activities include running kindergartens, hostels, and coaching centers for underprivileged students.
Additionally, it operates mobile medical vans and clinics, organizing health camps. The organization also provides vocational training, such as shorthand and typing, particularly aimed at economically empowering youth.
In its efforts towards women’s empowerment, it establishes training centers for sewing and tailoring. This NGO operates at the grassroots level, involving numerous volunteers, and is connected to a vast network of trusts and NGOs under the ‘Rashtriya Seva Bharati’.
