Indore, June 17: A heightened security alert has been issued in Madhya Pradesh ahead of President Droupadi Murmu’s two-day visit to Omkareshwar.
Director General of Police Kailash Makwana has instructed police forces across all districts to remain vigilant and ensure law and order during the president’s visit. President Murmu is on a five-day tour of Madhya Pradesh.
She is expected to arrive in Omkareshwar from Indore on June 18, where she will offer prayers and visit the revered Jyotirlinga. An official program will also be held on June 19 to mark World Sickle Cell Day.
To facilitate the president’s visit, significant traffic changes have been implemented in Omkareshwar. These changes will be in effect from midnight on June 17 until June 19.
Ministers, representatives, and senior officials will welcome President Murmu at Indore Airport. She is likely to travel to Omkareshwar by helicopter or road, depending on weather conditions.
According to senior officials, the Indore administration has made comprehensive preparations for the president’s visit, although an official announcement is still awaited from the President’s Secretariat.
Khandwa District Magistrate Rishav Gupta has appealed to devotees for cooperation. He stated that President Murmu’s visit is scheduled for June 18 and 19, during which she will pray at the Jyotirlinga. He urged the public to be patient as there may be some inconveniences.
Heavy vehicles will have altered routes to avoid congestion. Vehicles traveling from Indore to Khandwa will take the Mahu-Manpur-Dhamnod-Khargone route, or the Simrol-Mandleeshwar-Kasarwad-Khargone route.
Similarly, traffic from Khandwa to Indore will proceed via Bhikangaon-Khargone-Kasarwad, while vehicles coming from Mandleeshwar will use the Kasarwad-Khalghat route. Small vehicles arriving from Indore will be directed to park at Trenching Ground and Tamrakar Parking, from where pilgrims can walk to the site for darshan and holy bathing.
Vehicles coming from the Mundi side will also park at the same locations. Buses arriving from both Indore and Khandwa will be stationed at Moratakka. A section of the road will be temporarily declared a ‘no-vehicle zone’ during the president’s convoy passage.
Local authorities have made extensive arrangements to ensure a smooth visit while minimizing inconvenience to devotees and the general public.
