Patna, July 28: Neeraj Kumar, spokesperson for the Janata Dal (United), has expressed strong support for the government’s initiative regarding the Anti-Paper Leak Bill. He emphasized that with the advancement of new technologies, fresh challenges have emerged. Some individuals are misusing these technologies to undermine the hard work and qualifications of students. Kumar stated that incidents of question paper leaks are detrimental to students’ futures, necessitating stringent laws to combat this issue.
He pointed out that the problem of paper leaks is not confined to any political party or opposition but is a serious concern linked to the interests of students. Numerous states have previously experienced question paper leak incidents. Referring to Congress-led governments, he questioned how many culprits were imprisoned and what effective actions were taken against them.
Kumar noted that the NDA government has acted swiftly in paper leak cases, leading to the arrest of several accused individuals. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also proposed the formation of a committee of experts to strengthen the examination system. This committee, led by the chairman of Infosys, aims to enhance the examination process.
He further stated that those responsible for wasting students’ time and causing mental distress to parents will face strict action. Kumar mentioned that stringent laws are being introduced for this purpose, and he hopes the opposition will provide constructive suggestions on the matter. He asserted that this is not a topic for criticism but a serious issue that requires reflection to prevent future occurrences.
Kumar also addressed the incident involving a police officer allegedly firing an AK-47 at protesting students. He affirmed that any individual violating regulations will be held accountable. The concerned police officer has been suspended, and departmental action is underway. Kumar explained that the officer was returning from a raid when a crowd gathered, leading to inappropriate firing, which warranted action.
Additionally, he criticized Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav for not being present during the student protests in Bihar, suggesting he should clarify his role before questioning the state’s situation.
In response to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s call for Prime Minister Modi’s resignation, Kumar quipped, “Rahul Gandhi is the leader of the opposition. He should resign too. Even Mamata didi in Bengal does not trust him. Regional parties are rejecting the Congress party in various places. In such a scenario, he should also resign from his position as leader of the opposition.”
