Dhanbad, July 28: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has launched extensive raids at approximately 25 locations in Dhanbad district, Jharkhand, this Tuesday morning. This operation is part of an investigation into coal smuggling and money laundering linked to coal traders Anil Goyal, LB Singh, and Harendra Chauhan, as detailed in an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR).
The ED team, accompanied by central security forces, arrived at various sites around 7 AM to initiate searches. The individuals under scrutiny include Ganesh Yadav, Pappu Mandal, Rohit Yadav, Harendra Chauhan, Madho Singh, Mahendra Pratap, Imtiaz Ali, Rajnikant Sharma, Shekhar Yadav, and Alok, among others.
During the searches, the ED is examining documents related to financial transactions, bank records, property papers, mobile phones, laptops, hard drives, and other digital devices. As of now, there have been no official reports of arrests or seizures.
Sources indicate that these raids are part of an investigation into tenders from Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), alleged illegal coal trading, and associated financial transactions. Previously, in November 2025, the ED conducted raids in Jharkhand and West Bengal, targeting premises linked to LB Singh, Anil Goyal, and their associates.
It is believed that Tuesday’s operation is a continuation of that investigation. Based on newly uncovered evidence and financial transaction information, the ED has resumed its search efforts. Following the raids, there is noticeable activity among businesspeople in Dhanbad’s coal trading and outsourcing sectors. Some of those being investigated are reportedly connected to various political parties.
