Jaipur, July 28: The Cockroach People’s Party (CJP) has accused the Rajasthan police of harassing students who participated in protests against the NEET paper leak. The party claims that despite an agreement to withdraw cases, police officers continue to visit students’ homes and summon them via phone.
The organization has issued a warning that if this alleged harassment does not cease, they will resume their protests.
In a video statement, CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka stated that members of the organization’s core team are being targeted by the police in Rajasthan. Ranka said, “The police are repeatedly visiting the homes of some core team members and harassing them through phone calls. We also expect the central government to make the written agreement public soon.”
Ranka urged both the central and Rajasthan governments to honor the agreement made on July 25 regarding the withdrawal of cases against protesting students.
He claimed that other state governments have already acted on similar assurances. “The Bihar government has withdrawn all cases against students, while West Bengal has also retracted all FIRs. The central and state governments should stop targeting students and respect the agreement made on July 25,” he added.
The CJP warned that if police continue to visit students’ homes and contact them despite the agreement, the organization will be compelled to protest again.
Students from Rajasthan and across India participated in protests against the NEET paper leak. Many traveled to Jantar Mantar in New Delhi to join the demonstrations, while protests and sit-ins were also held in Jaipur and other cities.
CJP supporters demonstrated for several days at Jawahar Circle in Jaipur. The Rajasthan police have yet to respond officially to the CJP’s allegations.
