New Delhi, March 2: Former head coach of the Indian cricket team, Ravi Shastri, believes that Sanju Samson’s match-winning innings against the West Indies at Eden Gardens in Kolkata could be a turning point in his career.
While discussing the match on ICC Review, Shastri praised the composure of the 29-year-old Samson in a high-stakes game, stating, “Sanju Samson is special, and that innings was remarkable. His calmness, patience, and touch during that innings were outstanding.”
He added, “He had everything. His timing was impeccable, his placement was precise, he showcased explosive power, and he displayed class. What impressed me the most was that despite wickets falling around him, he never lost his cool. He remained composed and collected in front of a large crowd.”
Shastri emphasized, “This was not just a league game; it was a knockout match. People have had high expectations from Samson throughout his career. No one has questioned his talent, but they have been disappointed with his consistency. Today, he showcased everything and brought joy to millions around the world.”
