Nagpur, August 6: Sanjay Nirupam, spokesperson for Shiv Sena, expressed his views on RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s recent dialogue with Gen Z, the ongoing Supreme Court case concerning the Shiv Sena name and election symbol, and comments from Congress leaders regarding Rahul Gandhi’s political stance. He supported the RSS’s approach, stating that such dialogues are essential for guiding the younger generation in the right direction. He also expressed confidence in the Supreme Court’s ruling favoring Shiv Sena in the symbol case.
Nirupam remarked that since its inception, the RSS has focused on personality development. For nearly a century, it has worked through numerous branches nationwide to instill patriotism, social responsibility, and respect for Indian culture among the youth. The core objective of the RSS has been to connect young people with Indian traditions, eternal culture, and national interests. Therefore, if Mohan Bhagwat is engaging directly with the younger generation, it is a commendable initiative. He noted that some individuals are attempting to mislead youth for political purposes. In such an environment, Bhagwat’s dialogue can inspire positive thinking, national interest, and social responsibility among young people. While acknowledging the challenges faced by youth, he emphasized the importance of preventing them from being misled by political influences.
Regarding the ongoing Supreme Court hearings on the Shiv Sena name and election symbol, Nirupam stated that his party has full faith in the judiciary. He mentioned that both the Assembly Speaker and the Election Commission have already ruled on technical and legal grounds that the Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde is the real Shiv Sena and should retain the election symbol. He claimed that many Shiv Sena legislators, MPs, and former leaders joined Shinde due to disagreements with Uddhav Thackeray’s leadership and ideology. Given these facts and legal aspects, he is confident that the Supreme Court’s final decision will favor his party.
On the controversy surrounding Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar’s use of the term “dumb doll,” Nirupam stated that this issue goes beyond mere words; it concerns the respect owed to a female representative. Sunetra Pawar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, is an active public figure, and it is crucial to use respectful language to promote women’s participation in politics. He insisted that derogatory remarks against women should not occur, and Congress should publicly apologize for this comment.
In response to Congress’s questions regarding crimes against women in Manipur and Sunetra Pawar’s role, Nirupam expressed confidence that Pawar is fulfilling her responsibilities with dedication and integrity. He believes she will meet the expectations of the people of Maharashtra in the future.
Attacking Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, Nirupam stated that comparisons between Mahatma Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are unfounded. Mahatma Gandhi was a leader who led the country to independence through truth and non-violence, while Rahul Gandhi politicizes every issue for personal gain. He criticized the movement that began at Jantar Mantar over student issues for being co-opted into a political narrative against the government. He urged Rahul Gandhi to meet with students in Ranchi protesting against alleged paper leaks and exam irregularities, suggesting that he remains silent on issues in Congress-ruled states while raising concerns in others.
