Jacqueline Fernandez Granted Relief in ₹200 Crore Extortion Case
Jacqueline Fernandez receives relief as Delhi court dismisses plea to make her an accused in the ₹200 crore extortion case linked to Sukesh Chandrashekhar.

New Delhi, September 22 (Daily Kiran) : In a significant development, actress Jacqueline Fernandez has received a reprieve in the ₹200 crore extortion case linked to Sukesh Chandrashekhar. The Rouse Avenue Court in New Delhi has rejected a plea seeking to designate Fernandez as an accused in the case under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) and to issue a summons against her.
This ruling halts the demand for her to be summoned as an accused in this ongoing investigation. The plea was filed by Nawaz Kakkar, an associate of Sukesh Chandrashekhar, who was extradited from Dubai to India. It sought to include Fernandez as an accused in the MCOCA proceedings.
Previously, the court had requested a response from the Delhi Police regarding this matter. As it stands, Fernandez has not been charged under MCOCA in connection with this case.
Fernandez is already facing accusations in a separate ₹200 crore money laundering case. In May 2026, a Delhi court ordered the framing of charges against her. Meanwhile, charges have been laid against Sukesh and other accused in the extortion and MCOCA cases. Notably, earlier court reports did not classify Fernandez as an accused in the extortion matter.
The recent plea aimed to formally include her in the MCOCA case. On September 7, the Rouse Avenue Court directed the Economic Offences Wing of the Delhi Police to respond to this request.
The entire issue initially arose from allegations against Sukesh Chandrashekhar involving ₹200 crore in extortion. According to the Delhi Police, Sukesh allegedly posed as a high-ranking government official while communicating with Aditi Singh, the wife of former Ranbaxy promoter Shivinder Singh, who is currently incarcerated. He purportedly promised to secure her husband’s release and provide legal assistance in exchange for a substantial sum of money. Following this complaint, the Delhi Police initiated an investigation.
