Chennai, August 6: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay congratulated Finance Minister N. Mari Wilson and Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister R. Vinoth on the presentation of the revised budget for 2026-27 and the agriculture budget. He emphasized that these budgets are designed to promote inclusive development and strengthen the livelihoods of all segments of society.
In a statement following the presentation of the agriculture budget in the assembly, Chief Minister Vijay noted that both budgets reflect the government’s commitment to Tamil Nadu’s development, with a focus on public welfare at the core of policy-making.
He praised Finance, Planning, and Development Minister N. Mari Wilson for presenting the revised budget and Agriculture Minister R. Vinoth for introducing the agriculture budget.
The agriculture budget presented in the assembly on Thursday included several schemes and initiatives aimed at benefiting farmers, agricultural production, and related sectors. Minister Vinoth began his budget speech at 9:31 AM and concluded at 11:38 AM, delivering remarks that lasted over two hours.
Chief Minister Vijay stated that the revised budget was prepared with a comprehensive approach to create new opportunities and enhance the welfare of diverse social groups. He highlighted that the budget considers the interests of students, youth, women, children, persons with disabilities, the transgender community, laborers, fishermen, weavers, entrepreneurs, and government employees.
He added that this budget aims to instill new hope across all societal segments while laying a strong foundation for the state’s long-term economic and social development.
Regarding the agriculture budget, the Chief Minister mentioned that it is designed to enhance the welfare and livelihoods of farmers and accelerate the development of agriculture and related sectors in the state.
He noted that special attention has been given to livestock, fisheries, and dairy sectors, along with provisions to promote food processing and agriculture-based value-added industries.
The Chief Minister asserted that strengthening these sectors will create new employment and livelihood opportunities, enhance farmers’ economic security, and accelerate the overall development of rural Tamil Nadu.
Vijay expressed confidence that the government’s financial and agricultural plans aim to ensure that the benefits of economic progress reach all areas of the state and every segment of society. He affirmed that with a focus on public participation and welfare, Tamil Nadu will continue its journey towards prosperity.
