Kochi, March 28: The date March 31 holds special significance for India’s national football team. Ryan Williams, a 32-year-old midfielder born in Australia, is set to make his debut for India against Hong Kong in the final round of the AFC Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers. He will don the ‘Blue Tigers’ jersey at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium in Kochi.
Williams received FIFA approval to represent India in November 2025. However, reaching this milestone required him to navigate a lengthy process involving passport issues, documentation, and a transfer from the Football Federation of Australia to India.
