Maldah, June 24: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has successfully rescued three minors during a significant operation named ‘Operation Nanha Farishte’ at Barharwa Railway Station. The children were found wandering alone in suspicious circumstances within the station premises. Thanks to the vigilance of the RPF, they were safeguarded from potential danger and handed over to a child welfare organization for further care.
The RPF in the Maldah division is actively monitoring and conducting special operations to ensure passenger safety, prevent illegal activities in railway areas, and protect children. This initiative is being carried out under the guidance of the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Maldah, Manish Kumar Gupta, and the oversight of Assistant Security Commissioner Barun Kumar Behera.
On June 24, during routine checks and patrols, RPF officers at Barharwa noticed three minor boys wandering alone near platform number one at approximately 5:05 AM. Their activities appeared suspicious, prompting RPF personnel to inquire further.
During questioning, the children revealed that they had left home without informing their parents and had arrived at Barharwa Railway Station with the intention of traveling to Delhi for work. Given their young age and vulnerable situation, the RPF acted swiftly to take the three boys into protective custody.
Subsequently, the minors were brought to the RPF post at Barharwa, where necessary safety procedures were completed. Representatives from Manthan, Rajmahal, and Sahibganj were informed about the case. After counseling and completing required formalities, the children were safely handed over to representatives from Manthan for appropriate care, safety, and further assistance.
The RPF Maldah Division stated that this operation underscores their commitment to the safety of vulnerable and helpless passengers, especially children. The RPF is continuously conducting monitoring operations to combat human trafficking, unsafe migration, and child exploitation through the railway system.
Railway authorities have urged passengers and the public to report any suspicious activities at railway stations or on trains immediately to RPF personnel or through the available railway helpline, ensuring timely and appropriate action can be taken.
