Beijing, June 24: The 17th Summer Davos Forum held in Liaoning Province, China, has revealed the “Top 10 Emerging Technologies for 2026.”
Experts believe that China’s robust industrial ecosystem will play a crucial role in rapidly translating new technologies into practical applications, creating fresh opportunities for global economic growth.
The report includes key emerging technologies such as the Internet of Everything (IoE) grid, direct lithium extraction technology, and passive cooling materials.
According to the report, this year’s technological focus is shifting from software-based artificial intelligence (AI) to real and physical systems. Additionally, many new technologies are reducing barriers related to resources and geographical limitations, which can aid in addressing global challenges in energy, environment, and health.
Fan Mingsong, CEO of Frontiers Publishing, noted that most of the cutting-edge technologies listed this year are linked to the real economy, encompassing critical areas such as mineral resource development, food security, and public health. He emphasized that this is the most significant trend in technological advancement this year, highlighting China’s remarkable performance in the field of emerging technologies.
Liang Chinhui, Executive Director of the World Economic Forum, stated that the process of developing, testing, and scaling new ideas in China is exceptionally swift. He mentioned that nearly 70% of the companies participating in this year’s Summer Davos Forum in Liaoning are foreign firms. These companies aim not only to leverage China’s manufacturing capabilities but also to enhance collaboration with China’s extensive innovation system.
