Beijing, June 24: Amid the rapid global technological competition, a pressing question arises: How can scientific and technological innovations move beyond mere investment and discussion to actual productivity? The Summer Davos Forum, held in the city of Talyan in northeastern China’s Liaoning province, addresses this question by promoting the concept of “mass innovation.”
A global online survey conducted by China Global Television Network (CGTN), under the China Media Group (CMG), revealed that 93.4% of participants believe that China’s vast market and diverse application landscape provide a strong foundation for testing, commercializing, and widely utilizing new technologies.
Currently, the pace of the global technological revolution and industrial transformation is accelerating. The ability to convert ideas developed in laboratories into practical industrial value has become a crucial basis for national development competition.
The survey indicated that 84.6% of respondents identified ineffective utilization in industrial upgrading as a primary reason for the limited impact of innovation. Furthermore, 86.9% of participants felt that without the support of a large market, any innovation struggles to meet long-term challenges such as real demand and commercial profitability. A significant 88% emphasized the necessity of applying technology in real industrial conditions to continuously improve while addressing market demand, cost control, and supply chain challenges.
According to the survey, by 2025, the number of artificial intelligence (AI) companies in China is expected to exceed 6,000, with the sector’s core industrial size estimated at over 12 trillion yuan. Data from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) indicates that Chinese AI companies attracted approximately $13.9 billion in venture capital investment globally, reflecting international investors’ confidence in China’s technological innovation.
Regarding large-scale innovation in AI, 72.4% of participants believe that real value can be demonstrated by applying technology across various industries, reducing costs, increasing efficiency, improving processes, and enhancing product innovation and services.
Moreover, 73.6% stated that the true test of AI innovation lies in its ability to enter daily life with low costs, broad accessibility, and high efficiency. Additionally, 85.1% of respondents agreed that mass innovation fosters a healthy and sustainable business cycle, allowing technological achievements to develop continuously over time.
This year marks the beginning of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan, with the nation setting broad goals for high-quality development, emphasizing the practical application of innovation and making its benefits accessible to more people.
The survey also showed that 93.2% of participants believe that China’s robust manufacturing system and engineering capabilities enable rapid transformation of technological achievements into products, production lines, and industrial capacity. Furthermore, 92.5% of respondents felt that through high-level openness and active participation in the global innovation network, China provides stability and trust in global technological development. Meanwhile, 90.8% of participants noted that China’s concept of high-quality economic development reflects the broader direction of the global economy.
It is worth mentioning that this survey was released on CGTN’s English, Spanish, French, Arabic, and Russian platforms. Within 24 hours, 5,913 internet users participated, sharing their insights.
