Tragic Collision in Bihar Claims Four Lives and Injures Four Others

Motihari, June 24: A devastating road accident in the East Champaran district of Bihar on Wednesday resulted in the deaths of four individuals, while four others sustained serious injuries. The incident occurred in the Sugouli police station area on the Chapwa-Betiah road, near Nayka Tola, where an auto rickshaw collided head-on with a speeding pickup truck.

The impact of the collision was so severe that the auto was completely mangled, causing chaos at the scene. According to police reports, there were eight people in the auto, which was en route to Shripur. At that moment, a fast-moving pickup truck coming from Betiah struck the auto with great force.

Following the accident, screams filled the air as nearby villagers rushed to the scene to assist in rescuing the injured trapped inside the auto.

Upon receiving news of the incident, Sugouli police station chief Avnish Singh arrived with a police team. They, along with local residents, helped transport the injured to a community health center via ambulance. After initial treatment, the condition of all four injured individuals was deemed critical, leading to their referral to MJK Medical College and Hospital in Betiah for advanced care.

The deceased have been identified as Rubina Khatun, Aisa Khatun, Zaid Khan, and Bhairon Sah. The injured include Chand Khan, Shankar Kumar Sharma, Rifat Praveen, and Manat Praveen, all of whom are currently receiving medical treatment.

Following the accident, traffic on the Chapwa-Betiah road was temporarily disrupted due to the wreckage and crowds at the scene. Police arrived promptly to manage the situation and restore traffic flow.

Authorities have seized both vehicles involved in the crash. Additionally, the bodies of the deceased have been taken into custody and sent to Motihari Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examinations. The police are actively investigating the incident to determine the causes of the accident.
