Trump Claims Iran Denies Tax Collection Reports on Hormuz Strait

Washington, June 24: President Donald Trump has asserted that Iran has labeled reports regarding tax collection on the Hormuz Strait as fake news. According to him, there are no tolls, insurance costs, or other fees being charged on vessels passing through Hormuz.

In his familiar style on Truth Social, Trump claimed that Iran has informed the U.S. that any reports related to such fees or charges are “fake news” and do not reflect reality. He also mentioned that if any contrary information proves to be true, ongoing negotiations would be immediately terminated.

In his statement, Trump further claimed, “The U.S. has not given Iran any funds, nor has any of its funds been released. Some amounts under U.S. control will be allocated to American farmers and ranchers to purchase corn, wheat, soybeans, and other agricultural products.”

He added that there is a need for food supplies in Iran, and the U.S. will ensure that necessary food supplies come specifically from American agricultural products.

Iran has consistently maintained that it will retain control over the Hormuz Strait. On Tuesday, Iran and Oman issued a joint statement indicating that both countries would consider overseeing this route and the fees charged for services rendered to vessels.

Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated during his visit to the UAE that the U.S. will not allow Iran to collect tolls from ships passing through the Hormuz Strait under any final agreement.

He emphasized that this is an international waterway, and no country is permitted to charge tolls or fees on international maritime routes. “I am confident that other countries in the region will agree with this,” he added.
