Jammu Police Launches Anti-Drug Operation, Two Suspects Arrested

Jammu, June 24: The Jammu and Kashmir Police are intensifying their commitment to combat drug-related issues with a new initiative called the “Drug-Free Campaign.” In line with this effort, the Jammu Police’s South Zone conducted a comprehensive cordon and search operation in the Valmiki Colony of Gandhi Nagar. This operation was initiated following reports of cannabis sales in the area.

During the operation, over 250 homes were meticulously searched, leading to the detention of 18 suspects for questioning and verification.

The operation was executed in a planned and coordinated manner, aimed at identifying, preventing, and curbing the activities of active drug traffickers and anti-social elements in the region. Both the supply and demand chains of narcotics were targeted.

The entire operation was led by the Superintendent of Police (South Zone) of Jammu, with active participation from South Zone police officials and staff.

The Jammu Police reiterated their commitment to dismantling the drug ecosystem and creating a drug-free society through focused efforts. They also urged the public to provide information related to drug trafficking and other criminal activities to enable timely and effective action.

In a related incident, the Customs Department at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai seized hydroponic weed worth ₹2.05 crore. A 28-year-old man was arrested for smuggling drugs into India from Bangkok.

According to Mumbai Customs, the arrested individual has been identified as A.D. Rajani, a resident of Jamnagar, Gujarat. Authorities had suspicions about restricted items in his possession. Based on this, the passenger arriving from Bangkok was stopped at the airport for a thorough inspection of his luggage.

During the search, officials discovered 14 packets in his trolley bag. Upon opening these packets, they found plant flowers and upper parts, which were suspected to be hydroponic weed (cannabis). Investigations confirmed these suspicions.
