Patna, July 2: Rohini Acharya, daughter of RJD chief Lalu Yadav, has criticized the Bihar government regarding the controversial Bharat Tiwari alleged fake encounter case. She raised concerns about the recent assignment of Rajesh Kumar Sharma, the former SDPO of Jagdishpur, who was named as an accused in the case. Acharya described this new responsibility as akin to rewarding the accused officer.
She also questioned the slow pace of the investigation and the lack of transparency from the government and police administration. In a post on the social media platform X, Acharya expressed her astonishment at the decision to assign new duties to the police officer implicated in the alleged fake police encounter that resulted in the death of Bharat Tiwari, who fought for the rights of impoverished displaced individuals in Jawainiya village and exposed corruption within the Bhojpur administration.
Acharya stated that this move seems to validate the claims made by the deceased’s family and villagers, suggesting that the alleged fake encounter had the backing of high-level authorities, senior police officials, and local administrative officers.
She posed several questions to the Chief Minister, the Bihar government, and the Director General of Police. Notably, she pointed out that nearly half a dozen police personnel were named as accused in the FIR filed by the victim’s family, yet no arrests have been made so far.
Additionally, she inquired why there has been no questioning of the accused and why the investigation is progressing so slowly and without transparency. Acharya expressed concern that the delay in the investigation and the lack of arrests might indicate an attempt to protect a powerful individual.
In her post, she also highlighted the issue of Bharat Tiwari’s mobile phone, stating that despite almost two weeks passing since the incident, the police have yet to return the deceased’s mobile phone to his family, despite previous questions raised about this matter.
