Ahmedabad, August 4: BJP leader Rohan Gupta has voiced concerns regarding the Congress party’s stance on various issues, including women’s representation in the Karnataka Cabinet, factionalism within Punjab Congress, and the JPPSC controversy in Jharkhand. He accused Congress of adopting a dual approach towards issues affecting women, students, and Sanatan Dharma, asserting that the public has become aware of the discrepancies between Congress’s words and actions.
Gupta highlighted that while Congress speaks extensively about women’s rights and empowerment in Parliament, it fails to deliver justice for women when in power. This inconsistency has led the public to distrust Congress’s claims. In contrast, he emphasized that the BJP and NDA government are committed to women’s development and empowerment. He criticized Congress for attempting to block the women’s reservation bill in Parliament on technical grounds, stating that the Karnataka government has demonstrated that Congress’s ideology is against women’s interests, a fact that women across the country are increasingly recognizing.
Addressing the growing factionalism within Punjab Congress, Gupta remarked that infighting over power begins even before the party assumes office. He recalled a similar situation five years ago, which resulted in Congress being ousted from power. Gupta accused Congress of distancing itself from grassroots issues, focusing solely on power and position. He warned that if the party does not change its approach, it is destined for political decline in Punjab, as the public will not tolerate such political theatrics.
On the protests by students against the alleged paper leak in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPPSC) exams, Gupta targeted opposition parties. He stated that the entire nation is watching the events in Jharkhand, revealing the duplicity of parties that engage in politics over issues in other states. He questioned whether Jharkhand is not part of the country and if the anger and rights of its students are insignificant. Gupta criticized the opposition for selectively engaging in issues to gain political advantage.
He praised the BJP for introducing the country’s first anti-paper leak law to enhance transparency in the examination system, highlighting the extensive discussions and high-level committee formations that accompanied this initiative. Gupta pointed out that in states governed by Congress or its allies, the opposition remains silent on paper leak incidents. He cited Karnataka, Telangana, Kerala, and Jharkhand as examples where the opposition’s silence on student issues exposes its political motives.
Regarding India’s performance in the Commonwealth Games, Gupta commended the athletes, stating that it reflects the spirit of New India. Despite several traditional sports not being included this time, Indian athletes excelled, securing fourth place in the medal tally. He noted the dominance of Indian players in boxing and other sports, who brought glory to the nation despite adverse conditions.
In response to Congress leader Pramod Tiwari’s questions about the Ram Temple‘s consecration and religious rituals, Gupta launched a sharp attack on Congress. He accused the party of consistently opposing the Ram Temple and noted that its senior leaders have yet to visit Ayodhya. While Congress has previously claimed to respect the Supreme Court‘s decision, Gupta argued that its leaders’ behavior towards the Ram Temple remains negative. He stated that Congress has crossed limits in its politics of opposition and has repeatedly insulted Sanatan Dharma.
Gupta further mentioned that during an independent MP Pappu Yadav’s protest in Parliament, there was an insult to Sanatan, and Congress leadership did not raise any objections. He acknowledged that protesting is a democratic right, but if it involves disrespecting Sanatan Dharma, the Sanatani community will not accept it. He advised Congress leaders to seek atonement before engaging in politics.
