Atlanta, September 28 (Daily Kiran) : Two Chinese pandas, FingFing and FuShuang, landed at Atlanta International Airport on the morning of September 27, 2026, via a chartered flight, according to Beijing time. Following their arrival, both pandas were successfully transported to the Atlanta Zoo, where they will undergo a standard quarantine period of approximately one month.
Veterinarians and caregivers from both China and the United States conducted a joint health check on the pandas after the flight. Fortunately, both animals were found to be in good health.
Chinese veterinarians and caregivers will remain at the zoo for three months to care for the pandas during their quarantine. They will also provide stress adaptation and behavioral training to help the pandas acclimate to their new environment.
Raymond King, the director of the Atlanta Zoo, expressed his excitement, stating, “Today is a very happy day for the Atlanta Zoo. We warmly welcome FingFing and FuShuang and are thrilled to share this joy with everyone. The Atlanta Zoo will continue to collaborate with the Chinese Wildlife Conservation Association to advance panda conservation efforts.”
Gina Ferry, the zoo’s deputy director, informed Xinhua News Agency that the zoo has completed upgrades and renovations to its facilities in preparation for the pandas’ arrival. She mentioned that after the more than month-long adaptation period, the pandas will be ready to meet visitors.
Under agreements between China and the United States, this pair of pandas will reside at the Atlanta Zoo for a decade. Male panda FingFing was born on March 17, 2020, while female panda FuShuang was born on October 18, 2020.
