Patna, June 7: The political controversy surrounding the reduction of security for former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi and RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav is intensifying. In a significant move against this decision, Rabri Devi and Tejashwi Yadav returned all security personnel stationed at their official residence on Saturday. Following this incident, a large number of RJD workers gathered outside Rabri Devi’s residence.
The workers have declared that they will remain on guard for their leaders until the government restores the security arrangements for Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi to their previous status.
Supporters of the RJD claim they have been present outside the residence continuously since the previous day, ready to provide security around the clock. During an interaction with a news agency, RJD supporters stated that their protests would persist if the government did not reinstate their leaders’ security. They emphasized that ensuring their leaders’ safety is their top priority.
RJD worker Narendra Kumar stated, “We will remain here as a protective shield for our leader until the government restores his security. We have been here since yesterday and are prepared to provide security 24/7.” Another supporter, Dhananjay Kumar Chandravanshi, added, “We will stay here until a decision is made to restore our leader’s security. The previous security arrangements should be reinstated.”
Rajesh Kumar Yadav questioned the government’s decision, stating that removing their leader’s security is inappropriate. “This is the first time such treatment has been meted out to a former chief minister. No RJD worker will tolerate this. We will wait for 48 hours, but if security is not restored, workers from various parts of the state will come to ensure their leaders’ safety.” Another supporter, Nitish Kumar, echoed this sentiment, saying, “We will continue to sit here and protect our leaders until security is reinstated. It must be restored.”
Meanwhile, the decision to cut security has led to a back-and-forth exchange of accusations between the ruling party and the opposition. The RJD views this issue as an act of political vengeance.
